The Diagnotic Section of the Log File Shows HRESULT = VSS_E_MAXIMUM_NUMBER_OF_SNAPSHOTS_REACHED This error is related to the Windows system restore points. To clear all but the last system restore point, follow the following steps for each hard disk on the computer. 1.) Confirm in the DIAGNOSTICS section of the last History tab entry (log) show this warning, “HRESULT = VSS_E_MAXIMUM_NUMBER_OF_SNAPSHOTS_REACHED”. 2.) Click Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Click Disc Cleanup then select the hard disk. 3.) When the utility finishes the scan, click the More Options tab. 4.) Select the Clean Up under the System Restore. 5.) A message will popup, “Are you sure you want to delete all but the most recent restore point?”, Click Yes then OK. Now, all the System Restore points except the most recent one are cleaned. As a result there will be more free space in hard disk. You can verify this by opening the Windows System Restore utility (Click Start> All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore then Next). You should only see the most recent restore point listed.
***You will also want to be sure that any local hard disks selected for backup have at least 10% of the total space free for the Volume Shadow Copy service (VSS) to work properly.*** |
