For noncritical data files, if you wish to avoid seeing error messages about open files, deselect them from the Backup View by finding each file (press Ctrl-F and type the file name), clicking the green check mark next to the file, selecting Don't Back up "Just this file", and clicking OK to change it to a red X. We recommend deselecting non-critical open files so that you will be aware of any new error messages. - Some files always stay open, e.g. Dell Management Console or a wireless keyboard or mouse.
- Temporary or cache files created by Norton Antivirus 2004 or Windows XP Service Pack 2 (e.g. C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\EventCache\*.bin) are not needed.
- Some of the open files may be in use by spyware programs. Consider using adware and spyware removal programs like AdAware and SpyBot.
